☀️ Why sunlight might be the most overlooked blood pressure medication

When blood pressure rises, most doctors reach for a prescription pad: Amlodipine, Lisinopril, Losartan, Metoprolol

But nature created a vasodilator long before pharmaceuticals did

It’s called sunlight

The science behind it

When UVA light hits the skin, it triggers the release of nitric oxide from stored nitrates and nitrites (the same molecule behind every “nitro” medications)

This relaxes blood vessels, lowers resistance, and improves circulation; all without burdening the liver, kidneys, or metabolic pathways

The chain looks like this:

UVA → nitric oxide release → structured water expansion → smoother charge flow → lower vascular resistance

Blood stops behaving like sludge and circulation in the small vessels regains rhythm

But melanin and hydration also matter

The darker your skin type, the more UV exposure you needed.

Or the less structured water around small blood vessels walls, the higher the chances of the circuitry above going quiet

What can you do?

  • 5–15 minutes of morning sunlight upon waking

  • Skip sunglasses during that window

  • Grounding if possible

  • Good hydrated

🥊 Summary

Most people think that hypertension is about sodium, kidneys, and stress hormones. But, for millions of indoor workers, it may also be about ‘sunlight deprivation’ because arteries don’t just feel the pressure, they ‘read’ light

🕒 Why circadian health matters more than you think

Circadian health isn’t a luxury, but it’s a biological necessity

It regulates sleep, metabolism, immunity, mood, and nearly every aspect of our biology

Yet today’s lifestyles, especially late-night screen exposure, are disrupting these rhythms, contributing to burnout, chronic fatigue, metabolic issues, and mood instability

The more we expose ourselves to circadian cues at the wrong times (bright artificial light at night, late meals, late workouts, working late), the more we disrupt our internal clocks

Chronobiological strategies - known as time-based lifestyle adjustments - are emerging as powerful, low-cost therapies Here’s what you can try:

  • Morning sunlight: Get natural light within minutes of waking

  • Evening wind-down: Dim lights and blue light blocking 1–2 hours before bed

  • Consistent timing: Eat and move at regular times daily, ideally finishing before sunset in the summer

Modern health often obsesses over what to take.

But perhaps the bigger leverage is your alignment with natural time and environment

🥊 Summary

trategies to enhance productivity, cognitive function and long-term health involve optimising circadian health. Key interventions are light exposure management, meal timing and sleep hygiene

🔬 The light test: Why cancer cells burn and healthy cells don’t

Near-infrared light from the sun doesn’t discriminate

It simply reveals which cells have lost their structure

In a recent study, exposure to 810 nm LED light after incorporation of nanoflakes killed 92% of skin cancer cells.

The best part of all? Healthy healthy cells were left untouched

The mechanism is down to ‘Selective photothermal conversion’

The details:

Cancer cells internalise the nanoflakes. Healthy cells don’t

When light hit, the flakes converted photons into heat; rupturing cancer cells from within

Same light. Different outcome.

Healthy cells maintain electric homeostasis (aka stability): polarised membranes, coherent hydration and rhythmic energy flow

Cancer cells lose that integrity: their voltage collapses, membranes become porous, and energy localises instead of synchronising

Given the breakdown, a cell forgets its signal and its structure collapses

The tin didn’t kill cancer. The light simply revealed the loss of integrity

🥊 Summary

If light can reveal and selectively destroy cells that have lost their integrity, then sunlight isn’t just illumination; it’s information. It interacts with our biology at a cellular level, helping maintain integrity and potentially reducing the risk of dysfunction and disease before it starts
